Nekogami Mamoru, a travel writer who journeys across the country with a camera in hand, has a certain secret. That secret is that he can “talk to cats.” Relying on this mysterious ability, Nekogami interviews the cats he encounters during his travels. In Izu, while visiting historic cultural facilities and relaxing plazas where the sea breeze blows through, he is told by a cat about a ramen shop that is “full of people.” The cats do not simply follow people—they observe them. What they teach him are beloved local establishments that do not rely on tourist guides. Receiving travel hints from the cats, Nekogami makes his way around the town.
